About Us

The mission of the Arthritis Foundation, Western Pennsylvania Chapter is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.  The Arthritis Foundation strives to get the conversation started about arthritis.

The Arthritis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter services 19 counties in Western Pennsylvania.  The organization provides services to more than 10,000 people each year. It provides educational materials on various forms of the disease, medications and other treatment options. Community education programs also help people learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of the disease early and encourage prompt treatment to limit disability from arthritis.

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the country impacting the lives of well over 46 million Americans including over 300,000 children and 1-in-3 Pennsylvanians. The Arthritis Foundation has made tremendous strides in arthritis research. This chapter is very proud of its mutual partnership with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in providing care for children with arthritis, and that some of the leading arthritis research in the country is being done right here in Pittsburgh at Children’s, The University of Pittsburgh and UPMC.
